With that, 2019 was off to a flying start. The geeks of Bristol got together once more, playing plenty of games, drinking and enjoying the warm comforting familiarity of the Old Market Tavern. A huge thanks to the bar staff for another welcoming event, where we decided to see what sorts of plans people had for the year. We had a few great entries for the competition, as well as a new game that we brought along and played. As ever, join us for a look back at this month’s GeekOut Bristol Meet.
All of the GeekOut Meetups for 2018 are over with. That’s it, there’s no more this year. We’re not doing a New Years Eve special this year in Bristol, so we’ll be back in 2019! Joel and I have been hard at work to try and get the perfect meets arranged for the new year. As ever, we want to make sure we deliver the best monthly geeky events and we will stay free to attend. There are some changes coming for the Shrewsbury folk, with some changes to Monty’s Tower, but other than that we’re going to be having another awesome year of events. Read on to find out when our events for next year are and what the general themes are.
We always love to share how our events went, especially when we had a genuinely excellent time all around. We went to the Old Market Tavern, many of us braving the incredibly unpredictable weather of the day (I would know, I was drenched). We gathered in the pub, bought a pint or two, or ten – and we met plenty of new people and familiar faces alike. Whilst we don’t have too many pictures of this one, the competition was awesome and as ever, we’ll detail what happened at the event. So, check out what happens at one of our GeekOut Bristol Meets.
We had a hero inspired meetup this meet, where we took everybody to school and tested them in a huge competition, which took me most of the day to run (but damn, was it ever entertaining?) We had plenty of entrants, of which everyone got five minutes in and hey – We got through the event with more people than expected. Considering it was January, I was surprised to see so many people eager for another GeekOut Bristol Meet, as opposed to hiding away due to Christmas. Still, you all came and saw – so as ever, here’s our monthly gallery of the happenings of the event.
We came, we saw, we drank and hoo boy, was it ever loud? On New Years Eve, 41 amazing people came together to enjoy a night of fun and games, with festivities galore! We had an incredibly loud quiz; we counted down until midnight and we all shouted Happy New Year together on Facebook Live for the first time. Now that 2017 is behind us, let’s move forward and focus on the fact that we’re still one of the biggest and geekiest social events in Bristol. We’re going to try and do even more this year, so keep your eyes peeled!
Blah! We vant to suck your blood– Oh dear, that’s the worst vampire cliche ever.
We came, we saw, we drank and we dined. GeekOut Bristol Meet was as loud as ever, seemingly slightly busier than usual and with a competition that really seemed to gnaw at everybodies necks. So whilst we were being so merry, time went by so quickly as we had games on the go, people discussing everything, including a rather deep conversation about life in the conservatory. Deep stuff, guys.
The problem with an addiction is that it’s hard to admit it – Although let’s be honest, if you’re addicted to video games then you’re probably doing alright! We once again got our behinds to the Old Market Tavern, where we met up for some food and drink, board games and video games, as well as comics and books and so much more. People were chatting all night long and we got a nice number of attendees once more. As always though, we’re here to show you what happened throughout the night and to give you a bit of insider knowledge about next months event. Interested in what we did? Read on!
2016 has come to an end now and we’re hopeful for a bright future in 2017. Ah, so let’s look out of the window… Dear God, it’s all gone to hell out there.
A ‘smaller’ GeekOut Bristol Meetup took place on New Years Eve, to celebrate in the new year. Each time the year adds a one to its digits column, you know you need to do something that’s bigger and better than the year before. It’s like an incredible race to be as good as you can be – But we often get waylayed by unforeseen circumstance, or we just get bored of making the best of ourselves. It’s inevitable for us as humans to do this too… But that’s not necessarily a bad thing! So, for one day of the year only, we forget all about everything we know and love… We stop working, we get to a party, or we have a quiet indoors affair, snuggle up as best we can and just enjoy the fireworks: Literally.
