Whilst an update on our new website might not come to the forefront of your minds, I certainly feel like it’s been a while since I’ve had a significant update for everyone. Indeed, I usually only really provide an update when there’s been a big change and this time, I guess there kind of has been a big change to the new site. There’s quite a few changes to it in fact, which I think warrants a bit of attention.
We always love to share how our events went, especially when we had a genuinely excellent time all around. We went to the Old Market Tavern, many of us braving the incredibly unpredictable weather of the day (I would know, I was drenched). We gathered in the pub, bought a pint or two, or ten – and we met plenty of new people and familiar faces alike. Whilst we don’t have too many pictures of this one, the competition was awesome and as ever, we’ll detail what happened at the event. So, check out what happens at one of our GeekOut Bristol Meets.
We’ve always strived to be ambitious – Whether or not we can always achieve those goals, that’s another question. I don’t think we’ve ever given up on any project, however more importantly, we like to keep working until we meet our goals. There’ve been delays along the way, but I figured it’d be great to look at what our projects as a group, a website and a community are, at least for the upcoming 12 or so months.
One thing I have had a number of compliments about are our posters, our website’s appearance and all of our design. Honestly, whenever I hear good things about these, I actually chuckle and shrug a bit. “Nah, you’re just saying that,” I’ve often said to myself. Well today, I thought I’d share with you why our scheme is black, grey, red and white. These four simple colours, or shades, are each hugely important to our identity. Here’s how and why.
GeekOut UK is our brand new website in the making – Something we’ve been working on for a rather long time now. As the release of the new website draws ever closer, we’re going to celebrate by showing all of you some snippets of what can be expected of the new site. Today, we’re going to talk about a topic we covered a long time ago, but this time it takes the form of a badge system.
We’ve certainly started to reach the end of life for our humble little website, but no matter what, we’re going to keep on growing and getting more and more people to join the cause. In case you’re wondering what happened to plans such as the new website, this article addresses those developments and hopefully provides answers for the future of our community. We’re going to keep on growing, is the jist of it, but if you’re a fan of what we do and were curious as to what we’re up to, let us tell you!
Short and simple today, I’m going to talk to you all about the future plans for this website, along with what I’m doing to realise these plans. As such, it’s not an article on anything particularly geeky, although you will get to read about what I do in the background. There’s a lot on the way and there’s not much left in the year 2016, which has been a truly phenomenal year for GeekOut South-West and it’s been, shall we say interesting in the wider world as well.
