Obtaining Excalibur II in Final Fantasy IX for Steam

A challenge should be plausible, not impossible. It should be difficult to achieve, but yet easy to conceive. You should logically be able to visualise how it can be done – and this is a challenge that caused many Final Fantasy players nightmares in the past. 12 hours to get to the end of the game – How hard can that be? Very, when cutscenes were a part of the issue, but Steam helps us achieve this previously nearly impossible task.

Mobile Game Review – Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius

With the release of Noctis on Tekken 7 this past Tuesday, I felt it was only appropriate to check out another Final Fantasy product. Whilst I could review any game within the franchise, including the incredible Final Fantasy Tactics series, I felt that I’d pick on something relatively new. Weighing in at a whopping 1.5gb on my phone, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is one of the latest attempts at storming Android and iOS by Square Enix. How does Brave Exvius stand up to other mobile titles, how ad-heavy is it and more importantly, what do you actually do on it?

Top 10 – Series That Went On To Long

GeekOut Top 10s

A series that goes on too long can be a terrible thing; from an unnecessary deviation from the plot, through to repetition of the show. What may have had a promising start, ultimately, is turning into a slog, rather than an enjoyable show to continue watching. Naturally, a series isn’t even limited to film and TV, but rather all mediums.

You are all a strange bunch, as you all picked this Top 10 after last week’s Series That Ended Too Soon. So, from getting soppy at last week’s list, to us going “Oh god, why is/was that going on so long”, this week’s Top 10 Series That Went On Too Long is all thanks to you. Thanks, folks. Let’s begin the list!

GeekOut Top 10s

Ladies and gentlemen, geeks and nerds, we are gathered here in memoriam of those we have lost but not forgotten. This is a sad Top 10 to have to write, because the games companies we have assembled below have all contributed titles to history that have inspired and driven creative minds world-over to go into games design, or in some other way create incredible works. For reasons beyond their own control these companies have fallen by the wayside to create no more.

Join us, one and all, as we mourn the Top 10 games companies who are no longer with us. (more…)

Top 10 Flamboyantly Ominous Characters

GeekOut Top 10s

Last week, our vote was a tie. Usually what we do in these situations, is roll a die for odds/evens and whoever calls it gets the one they choose. This time, Timlah said to Joel: “I think we can do this”. Lo and behold, we managed it. We combined the tied votes to create a brand new Top 10 that you all voted for. Perhaps the will of the people wasn’t to do this, but the votes sent us this way.

Flamboyant characters can be hard to judge: they’re often more than just a bit player in their franchise. Often they’re scary, in fact, they’re usually a little bit ominous. They stand out in a realm of “the norm”, they dress fancy, they talk differently and their minds are wired in a very unique way. They’re dangerous but fabulous, they’re ominous, they’re flamboyant… they’re in our Top 10 Flamboyantly Ominous Characters list!
