Review – Castlevania

This is my third Netflix review in four weeks, time to ease off a smidge… or double down and aim for that sponsorship deal?

Produced by Adi Shankar – the Punisher mini-film Dirty Laundry, Dredd, and The Grey – and written by Warren Ellis – Red, Hellblazer (or Constantine), and Transmetropolitain – the first series of the show based on a video game was very well received by fans, and a few weeks ago it was confirmed for a third season, no surprises with such enormous names attached to an enormous video game title, a veritable sub-genre of platformer. Getting Into Character

As I’ve grown older I’ve come to more deeply appreciate the role of the director in the film industry, to the point where I’ll look for the directors credentials on a new film before I give much thought to the actors involved. That said, there’s a real difference when an actor actually enjoys what they’re doing and the characters that they’re playing.

For The Love Of It

Some actors just straight up love what they do, and as geek culture grows stronger and more and more celebrities get insanely passionate about those characters that they always wanted to play from comics. We all know I’m talking about Ryan Reynolds, but he’s not the only one. (more…)

Creativity and nerdity tend to be an explosive mixture. Art is an expression of emotion through various media, and geeks tend towards extremes of emotion regarding their particular fandoms and passions, the two make for a happy and productive union that produces a great deal of beautiful and thought provoking material, and many of the works we know and love today were originally the product of fan art in it’s own way.
