Video Game Review Batman: Arkham Asylum

When The Dark Knight hit our cinema screens, it was somewhat of a revolution for superhero movies everywhere. It brought out that dark, gritty side that Batman has been needing on the big screen for some time. Jump forward a year to 2009, we ended up with Batman Arkham Asylum. This did for superhero video games what The Dark Knight did for superhero movies. But does the game hold up just as well in 2018, nearly a decade on from the games original release? I decided to finally pick the game up, after having it in my Steam account for many a year.

Video Game Review: Noahmund

Noahmund is a Fantasy RPG, set in the world of Feros, a war wages on. Love, fear and fire as they say, the game follows in our protagonist, Galina Angstroud, an agent of Shinn who is on a quest for truth and salvation. I’ve had some time with the game since last week and gotten far through it – So what did I make of this new indie title? Were the characters captivating, or just chatty? All of that and more revealed below.

Mobile Game Review: Knightmare Tower

When towers reach dizzying heights, there is only one type of hero with the thrust to be able to reach the top. With the princesses of the land all captured and cooped up in one tower, separated by easily breakable wooden ceilings, one knight, equipped with sword, armour and a comically oversized cannon looks to save them all. Will our knight break through the ceiling in the Knightmare Tower?

Video Game Review: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

Geralt, one of the most popular characters in RPG history, is a Witcher. A mutant of sorts, whom possesses powers far greater than that of most humans; a deciding factor in wars, able to use runes and two different types of swords for fighting. The Witcher is a franchise wrought with gratuitous violence, sex scenes and long, epic quests. Naturally then, it was a fitting game for me to try, as I do love a good RPG! But, as this was the first Witcher game I tried, what did I make of my introduction to the franchise as a whole?

Video Game Reivew – Alice: Madness Returns

“You’re back in Wonderland, Alice.” – But this time, things aren’t the same. Things have gone quite mad. You could say that all of the time Alice has been stuck in an orphanage, has only made her more derranged, or at least more cynical. Now we must return to Wonderland, where a train has been seen destroying the imaginative world. Why has this train taken off? What has happened to the laws of Wonderland and more importantly, can we see that amazing Vorpal Dagger once again?

Video Game Review: Diablo II

A classic hack-n-slash title, renowned the world over as possibly the best ever made. However it’s been around for 17 years, having debuted in 2000. Therefore, it’s time to finally pick the game up once more and scrutinise it deeply. I will compare it to games before, around and after it to see if it still maintains the title of best hack-n-slash around. The gloves are off, Lord of Terror!

Westworld – The Park Reviewed

As I sit here, finishing up the very last of Westworld, I find myself with far too much to pick apart and discuss for a mere review, but I find myself wanting to review it from an unusual perspective.

The series is fantastic, well written, brilliantly performed, layers of philosophy woven with drama, all brought to a satisfying conclusion that ties loose ends neatly but leaves a whole new string to unravel. And yet above all, I’m left with a complaint that makes me strangely unsatisfied with the series as a whole.

Westworld is a bad game. (more…)

Film Review – Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children

Ever thought about having powers? These kids had no choice in the matter, for they’re Peculiar’s, a group of people who have powers which make them different from normal humans. Directed by Tim Burton and written by Ransom Riggs, is this film as spectacularly different as we’d expect, or is it just not Peculiar enough for my tastes? Let’s take a look through Victorian England and take a step through a Loop.
