The Road To 100%: AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome
This year, I seemingly have gotten a bit more serious about my 100% ventures in game. I got so serious, I managed to get 100% of achievements on Skyrim. When I finished Skyrim, I knew I had to get a new game and I wanted to go for a way different genre. I thought about games I say I really like, but hadn’t really committed the time required to get really good at. Then, my mind went back to Owlchemy and Dejobaan Games’ AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome, a title about freefalling from floating buildings whilst flipping off or thanking fans… And tagging buildings.
There truly is a game for every niche…
So the premise of AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome is very simple – You are a person who does base jumping, an extreme sport which involves you jumping off buildings to a designated spot. Hopefully, you’ll pull the cord for your parachute in time, as you get ready to hit the red or orange targets. However, on your way down, you want to get as many hugs and kisses as possible. A hug is defined as being within a close proximity to an object of some kind – A polystructure (the floating buildings), a bit of debris, a car, a platform, a cliff face, you name it! A kiss is defined as getting close to an object initially. A kiss is worth 1,000 points, a hug worth 100 (because on one building, you can easily rack up the hugs, but not as easily get kisses. With me so far?
You then couple this with the fact you get to equip “flip-it gloves”, get a spraycan and even coffee. These three items allow you to get extra points, or aid you in the gameplay. The coffee slows the game down very slightiy, which can be incredibly useful. The flip-it gloves can be used to both thank your followers, or flip off your detractors. Finally, the spraycan is used to spray on specific polystructures, allowing you to tag them for 5,000 points. Furthermore, you can get stunts, such as slamming into a bird (poor bird), or threading the needle, which is when you do a very tight spot and get through it. Slamming into a bird is worth 3,000 and threading the needle is worth a further 5,500.
Next up, you have plates – These plates are worth 250, 500, 750, 1,000 and 2,000 points respectively. Each time you smash a plate, you get the written value, which is also colour coded. Finally, in the harder levels, there are “nets” which you can crash through for a further 500 points. Then there are speed up and slow down plates, bear hug plates giving you two times the hugs and also teleporters and bouncer plates. I think I’ve covered everything now (except for the rare weird levels, where you are SUPPOSED to crash into things, when you get an “Invulnerability plate”, or when you get checkpoints).
I’ve completed nearly every achievement now, with the last two just bugging me. The rest of the achievements have been somewhat tricky, even including beating every one of the DLC levels and every one of the “awesome” levels (or harder levels). I’ve only been playing this for about 2 weeks as of today, but I hope to be getting somewhere with these damn achievements at some point! Honestly, I love a challenge – it’s why one of the first games I 100%’d was Rogue Legacy, an amazing “Rogue-Lite” game. Worth checking out. Now, I want to add AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! to my slowly rising collection of games I will have all of the achievements for.
The above is a rare example of someone getting 5 stars on one of the levels I’ve yet to get to 5 star.
I’m 2 achievements away from getting this one to 100%. One of them requires me to get 5 stars on all of the main levels, which I’m only about 8 away from completing, which honestly, I don’t even know how I got THIS far. The other one requires me to complete 4096 jumps. Both of these achievements have a rarity of 1.3% of players with the game having completed it, but hey – I didn’t set out to do an easy job. Now, share in the comments below – What games have you 100% completed? Let me know what genre I should go for next! As ever, leave a comment below, or over on Facebook and Twitter.
