GeekOut Bristol Meet – January 13th: ROBOT REVENGE Gallery
We got to the Old Market Tavern after a delicious Italian meal at 2pm. We were dined and now we were hiding from the apocalypse that is the Robot Revolution, standing against all of humanity. Fortunately, we invited some of the brightest geeks across the South-West and beyond to come and help us out with defending Bristol against said robots – They built the robots for us and we were well defended indeed. So what happened at this months meetup? Read on to find out more.
Admittedly, I’ve been exceptionally unwell recently – So I wasn’t able to get too much done. Oh I know, woe is me and all that jazz, but I’m fine now, so don’t you worry! It’s as if the mere words “GeekOut Bristol time” brings me back to health, as I was ready to go. We got to the food venue at just slightly after midday due to traffic and boom! The night was then off. It was a smaller turnout for the pre-meet, with only 7 of us dining, but considering it was the 2nd weekend of January, it’s not too much of a surprise. In fact, 7 was a good number for the venue we went to, so we were happy with it overall. We ate at Zizzi’s in Cabot Circus, of which the food was delicious, before we moved over to the Old Market Tavern.
The competition this month was to build a robot out of card: Although I never made any stipulations about using extra materials, nor did I make any stipulation about working solo on these projects. As such, the 1st prize went to a team and the 2nd prize went to someone who made the base of their robot out of card and the rest out of tin foil. Clearly, some people put a lot of thought into how they were going to win! The third place went to the cutest robot you could ever conceive! As always though, you’re not here to read me rambling on: You want to see the juicy images of the night! Well, here you go..!
Also, here’s the robots and some more images taken by the lovely GhostBunny18.
That’s it for another month – Next months GeekOut Bristol Meet is due to be announced shortly, but the theme for next months event is the “Bygone era”. This means anything from 20’s/30’s fashion, comedy, filmography or otherwise. So, time to get myself a ragtime suit, right? As always, leave your comments below, or over on Facebook, Twitter or Reddit – All comments, about these events, or about what you think of our articles, are always really well received. We love to hear from you all.
