Kickstarter Highlight: Death Wish

As you probably know, we here at GeekOut are always on the lookout for interesting developments in a lot of areas. We always try to back upcoming games if we can, as well as technology and more. I must admit I am a bit of a fan of card games like Cards Against Humanity and Bucket Of Doom, and last week a game called Death Wish caught my eye with the campaign via Kickstarter. After watching the promo video I decided to bump up the £20 for the base game.

There is not much I can actually tell you about the game but I can tell you that I am excited to play it, so much so that I e-mailed the creator and asked him if GeekOut could have a review copy. Sadly Jason has run out but did mention that there is a Print and Play option available on the website. So Timlah and I are putting together a little plan to get a copy of this printed before our next meetup. I’m sure that Jason would be really interested in hearing what we thought of it as a game and he would certainly appreciate it if you want to buy a copy of the game for yourself or someone you know. In fact, it’s very rare that we do this but if you could share the link to the Kickstarter on all of your social media accounts, that would really help a lot.

I need to be honest here and say that Jason has no way paid us to say this, it’s just something we want to do. We have also invited Jason to our next meetup and he has not exactly said no as yet. Even if he cannot make this one we hope that he would be able to make one in the very near future or maybe one of us will go see him in Nottingham. Either way, we intend to get more information and background off him so were going to try something a little different and this is where we need your help.

This is a link to a Google document that anyone who has the link can edit. These are questions that we would like to take to Jason and we invite you to add more to it, now we cannot promise you that we will get answers to all of them but we will try to get as much info as we can. Then, when Jason has some time we can try and sit down and chat with him and get some answers. So go ahead and drop in anything you would like to know from a real life Kickstarter success and game developer.

As of today, there will only be 11 days left to back this project on Kickstarter, so please do go and check it out. If you’re going to join us for the retro-themed GeekOut Bristol Meet on July 8th, then we will hopefully be able to play and record a game of us playing it. We’ll be looking to get information from people as to what they enjoyed about the game and what they disliked too. Hopefully, we will be able to fully playtest this game and see if it meets our geeky standards. But that’s enough from us now: It’s over to you.

What do you think of a title like Death Wish? Do you think it fits a little niche, or do you think this is the sort of game that’s covered by Cards Against Humanity, Bucket of Doom and so on? As always, let us know what you think in the comments below, or take it to us over on Facebook, Twitter or Reddit.

  1. Aw. I was hoping for a remake of the Charles Bronson video game.
