GeekOut Bristol Meet – April 9th
Our latest meetup has now come and gone, another month of geeks getting together to celebrate all that’s geek has passed us by. But it doesn’t have to end there – We got some pictures, we shared some stories, we met new people and old friends. So join Timlah as we look back at this past weekends meet.
We’re still working on more events, as always, to bring the geeks of Bristol closer together. In the long run, we hope to spread GeekOut’s message to other parts of the country. But in the mean time, how did our latest meetup go? I forgot to take my camera this week, but it’s okay! In the modern age we live in, we all have smart phones; so I was still able to take pictures of this months event. As we went around, new people were mingling happily with regulars and there were lots of them!
This month, we had about 35 people in total, but everyone was spreading themselves all over the Old Market Tavern, meaning that getting everyone together in one big picture wasn’t possible. During our foodie meet, we managed to get 16 people, filling up all of our table. We expected only about 10, but we booked for 16 anyway and we filled all 16 spaces! Pizza Express in Cabot Circus was delicious but as we were waiting for our pizzas, Cabot Circus’ fire alarm went off… And we had to suss out if we were coming or going. It took quite a while before we went to stand up, but when we finally did go to leave the restaurant, the alarm went off and we got to sit back down again. Typical!
As we’re still talking about GeekOut and our meetups: What do you want to see more of in our events? I’m hoping that because of our next event being on Friday 13th, that I can theme our meetup more. It’s unlucky for some, but I think we’re incredibly lucky to be going back to the Old Market Tavern together on the unluckiest day! If you have ideas about what we should be doing more of at GeekOut, or if you were at this event, make yourself known in the comments below, or over on Facebook and Twitter. As always, thanks for reading and thanks for joining us through our adventure. We’ll be back for more GeekOut social events. See you soon!
