Gameblast 2016, GeekOut Style

It’s been a while since we last put out an update about Gameblast and Gamely Giving, but here we are, less than a week away from the event. Do you like video games? Do you like freebies? Great, read on to find out more!

Gamely Giving is a charity stream that has been set up as part of Gameblast ’16. This is a massive gamers charity event, in which people donate to streamers and all kinds of gamers, who do gaming sessions of 24 hours. Gamely Giving however is a 48 hour stream this year and I have been invited to be a part of the stream. We’re working as a team to bring you 48 hours of incredible content for the charity.

At the last GeekOut Meetup we held a cosplay competition in honour of GameBlast and raised a modest £31, but then another GeekOut member donated £10 via the JustGiving page! With this in mind, we’re now looking to meet the overall target of £1,000 for the charity. Special Effect, the charity in question, does a truly amazing job. They look after many disabled people in the UK, providing them with the means to be able to use technology once again. Known as the Gamers Charity, they found that providing disabled people the ability to use technology increased their quality of life, along with tools for communication.

Gamely Giving 2016 Schedule

For 48 hours, a large group of us will be providing free entertainment to the world – Why? Because we’re strange like that. We’ll be streaming a plethora of video games, but for me, I will be playing some internet games which I now consider classics. In the above, you can see my schedule for the night times’ activities. Hey, at least it’s already laid out and set in stone. I’ve already tested all of these and they work on stream, so expect an entertaining night of content from me… All the while, regular GeekOut meetup members will see a familiar French thiefs face– ah who am I kidding, I’m just looking for an excuse to be in my robes and mask!

Of course, there’s also the development section at the end, which I hope to be both humorous and somewhat enlightening. I’ll be putting some bits and pieces for the game together this week, so I will be incredibly busy like I usually am, but if you have me on Steam and want to see how my progress is going, just drop me a message and I’ll respond to you! So I guess this post is also a call out for people who kind of want to add me on Steam for any reason. Yay?

Check out this video, which shows what we’re working to raise money for.

Click this link if you want to see more of the work Special Effect do. If you’re around at that time of the night/morning for some reason and can watch the late night session I’ll be doing, please do come watch. I can guarantee that a game will be completed live on the stream. Even if you cannot join me at those ungodly hours, please do swing by and watch some of the rest of the streamConsider donating to the cause!

Do any of the above games stand out as something you’d like to see? Do you think we should have my section go up on GeekOut Tube if we can get the video? Does anyone think something is going to go wrong during this stream? And importantly: What beer will I be drinking?! As always, thanks for reading, please remember to comment below, or over on Facebook and Twitter. Share this amazing event (and more importantly this really awesome charity) around with your friends and family!
