Role-Playing Game Adventure Journals

Today, we’re looking at a project that’s already been backed fully and it is quite a nice little product too. What makes it even better is that it’s quite inexpensive even for people from the UK.

Designed by a couple who have been playing Dungeons and Dragons for around forty years, these journals are designed with the RPG player specifically in mind. No more will you need to bring out your sad raggedy old journals which generally speaking probably don’t look very adventurous and finally, it’s time to have journals made with a good campaign in mind!

Each and every part of these journals have been made with campaigns in mind!

They are not just giving these journals, but they are also giving out bookmarks and greetings cards, all with a similar design.

Honestly, to have a dedicated journal to your campaigns is basically a must. But to have a journal that’s been designed for gamers by gamers? That’s awesome. The bookmarks can even tell you the important page numbers of your preferred rule scheme!

These are the bookmarks – And they’re pretty good looking!

What do they need the money for?

$1,500 is all they were asking for and already at the time of writing they are close to $2,000. The money was only there to help cover the costs of printing the journals and for the shipping. All extra money will go to helping them fund a table at a convention: Pacificon.

They want to print 250 of each of these journals and these would be sold to game shops, conventions etc.

The design on the journals are already done and the design already exists. It can be bought from Urban Realms and it’s in the design of a map of Silicon Valley done in Lord of the Rings style (Called Silidon Valley.)

This is what the journal design will look like. I love this design!

What are the rewards?

So, why not pledge a few quid towards these journals, bookmarks and greetings cards? Here’s what they’re offering for us all:

There are a lot of tiers for this one, so there’s likely a tier that could suit you. I will be personally pledging towards this one and once I get my journal, I will share the love with you all and hopefully I’ll have something to announce when I receive them.

What did you all think of these really nifty journals? Worst case scenario with them is you get a nice decorative journal, even if you never intend to use them. It’ll look nice on a bookshelf!

Join us next week for another Kickstarter Highlight!

  1. Now THIS is something I can get behind…when I have money. Will you be able to order these journals on-line in future? I hope so. These would make perfect birthday gifts and Christmas gifts for a number of my friends, myself included! Please keep us updated on this one! Thanks for posting about it!

    • Hey there :)

Well, they actually exist currently. As mentioned, you can go to order them on demand via this link http://www.urbanrealms.com/maps2.html :) I think they’re trying to take this further and as I say, they look great and the risk is very minimal as they already exist :D

  2. Not sure this is something I would back. It looks like something any role player could do on their PC. The design of the bookmark is nice though.

    • Good point that anyone could keep track of their campaigns on their PC, but the problem then is you have to print your records off (or you keep your record on your PC and you update it at the end of your tabletop games).

Sure, you could also just take a laptop, but ultimately I think it’s better to get away from a computer completely when doing a tabletop RPG. I think it’s nice to not rely on technology, but just have people sat around a table, discussing and looking through books/journals. It should always be purely about the story, with no distractions to hand!

Also, with this campaign, there’s no real risk involved: These journals already exist. This is just to get them out to market better, rather than being print on demand :)
